Christina Hendricks is My Role Model

I am loving Christina Hendricks right now! The recently married vixen - who plays Joan on the hit show Mad Men - is one of the most beautiful and elegant women I have ever seen. Her appearance on the Martha Stewart show today has inspired me to post a few pictures I found of Christina. Her and Martha are making some yummy Halloween cocktails that I would love to try out, including the Bloody Tooth and the Bloody Scary cocktail made with pomegrante seeds!

Inspired by the clothing from Mad Men and Joan, I am loving this Button Duo Dress in Blue from Anthropologie.

Santa Monica Pier with my Diana Mini

A couple of weeks ago my friend Lisa and I went out to the Santa Monica Pier to take pictures with our Diana cameras. My little mini looked pretty cute next to her Diana F+, the bigger, original version of the Diana.

It was a bustling day both on the pier and the beach. Believe it or not, I've lived in Los Angeles for almost a year and have never stepped foot in the Pacific Ocean. That all changed and I've got the pictures to prove it.

This man had trained the seagulls to eat wet Cheeto's out of his hand - and he let me do it too!

Lisa took some great pictures in her Nikon D40 as well - we even saw dolphins dancing on the water!

My view up and my view down right on the pier

A couple of yummy ICEE's cooled us down - it was hot!

I couldn't get enough of the seagulls

Pay $10 to get your picture taken with a cardboard celebrity - or take a pic of all of them like I did!

Some shots of the rides and games - this was taken right before I saw John Favreau and his adorable daughter

These two friends were having such a good time I had to take a snapshot

Finally, I made it to the Pacific Ocean!

A true Pisces, I love the ocean, especially when the ocean + the sky merge together!

An Eventful Year...

At the end of last year, I didn't think any upcoming events to top the amount of changes that took place in 2008. I got married. I severely crushed my leg (a month before my wedding) that resulted in metal plates and surgeries and knowing I'll never run again. I earned a second diploma in Design from the Art Institute of Atlanta. My husband and I changed careers, packed up a Pod, and traveled across the country from Atlanta to Los Angeles. It was epic. And I wouldn't change a thing.

Lately, I've been contemplating this year and even though I know we've got three months to go, I can already tell that this year is rounding out to be another life changer. In June, I opened Pop + Shorty, which was a dream I've had for many years - to run my own little shop. Our beloved kitty, Macaroni, passed away. And now, we are again packing up the Pod and heading back to Atlanta.

It is a bittersweet feeling to think about moving back to the South. If I had one wish it would be to snatch up all our friends here in Hollywood and move them into houses right next to us in good old Atlanta. Life would be perfect.

For the next three weeks, we have a lot to think about, plan, prepare, pack, and decide before heading across the country. I can only say that I feel blessed to have the number of supportive family and friends helping us along the way...

Diana Mini

I've been working so hard lately, I decided to buy myself something I've been wanting for a really long time. Luckily, I waited to purchase the Diana camera until now because a newer, smaller, easier-to-use Diana Mini just launched! And guess who finally got her grubby little hands all over one? Me!

I am not a photographer. I was only half interested in my photography class in high school (partly because I like being in the darkroom with my secret high school crush). For those of you who know me well, you know how big I am on illustrations / drawings / computer-graphics. (I definitely never veer towards the photographs.) But...

It's time to try something new.

The Diana Mini is great for a novice like me because you can use standard 35mm film. It can be developed at any local photo shop. You can choose between half-frame or square shots. You can wear it around your neck or keep it in your purse. It's fantastic!

Here are some photos from the gallery on the Diana Mini website.

Check it out here to see many, many more....

I am also super psyched to reorganize and set up a little area for my new gocco machine and a place to scrapbook my lovely little Diana pictures. It's scary to get my hands dirty, using a computer and mouse has been so comforting for the past few years.

Wish me luck!
